Computer Power and Human Reason
When I was a Linguistics undergrad at University of Hawaii at Manoa, one of my favorite courses was a doctoral-level seminar on artificial intelligence. (The prof let me in because he needed three people to sign up to make the course, and I was very keen on it.) One of the books we read was by Weizenbaum, Computer Power and Human Reason. This book is still on my shelf, and was a big influence on my thinking about computers and human psychology.

NPR has an All Things Considered segment about Weizenbaum and his famous Eliza program.
